Couldn't a standard push/pull assembly be flipped and made to work ?

Yes Pete the standard throttle will work fine on the left side, that's what I did on the Harley Peashooter build. Some of the relatively inexpensive throttles feature right hand threaded grip bodies which of course will loosen up (when used on the left hand side) if not secured by a set screw, if you want to employ the throttle as a "standard" twist back to accelerate hand motion, but no modification is necessary for twist forward throttle use. Red thread locker will also keep threaded grips from un threading. I prefer the fixed throttle grip design throttles & have never required a threaded grip body for mounting or maintenance...so don't see a practical purpose for them.
