Simplex 125
« on: May 23, 2015, 08:55:30 AM »
Just brought this home.   frame #  04452  What year do you think it is?  Looks like remnants of original embossing on seat maybe.  Green foot rubber shows a lot of wear making one believe it may be authentic.  I have an engine and a two plug jug(aluminum) but not sure if it was on it from the get-go.

According to Gary's book, it is a 1952 only decal.  Going by the frame number, I tend to agree.

Tom, what tires are on this bike? They look like they could be a motorcycle tire, and not a bicycle tire.

Tread pattern resembles a lot of the Cheng Shins I put on my 48 in the beginning while waiting for the correct tires.  But those ones say  Cheng Shin  right on them.  There is no mention of how many plies on the sidewall of these.  Would need to search that LHR name for more info.  Face to face they don't look as manly as the Original Simplex tires do.
