Portland 2017 Roll Call
« on: June 07, 2017, 07:34:47 AM »
Who's going to Portland this summer?

Only 6 weeks away, I am working to get my latest project finished before then!

Rick,

Unfortunately I won't be able to make it again this year. I'm planning on going next year for sure and look forward to meeting all you guys. You guys have fun.

I'll be there. Mike said he wanted to go too. Everyone who loves 2 wheeled toys should attend.

Along with the "meet", what else is nearby to see and/or experience in the area of Portland IN?  If I were to make the trip, I'd go to Wright-Patterson AFB museum, maybe visit a brother in IL on the way and was wondering what else would be on the itinerary to visit or see?

WOW.  Nothing?  Not even the worlds second largest ball of twine?  O.K.

I figured you "old timers/regulars" (you, Rick, etc.who've been there multiple times) would have explored or known what else is around?

I've only been to Portland once . I went there for the show . Nothing else was of interest , to me .

Meeting some of these guys and seeing way more old bikes than I've ever seen in a single place , plus buying a couple 'goodies' while there was fulfilling enough .

I am there for the meet only.  There are so many people to meet and talk with,  not much reason to leave.  Portland is a really small town.  The only place I have gone is to the Antiques market in town.  Oh, and the Greasy Pickle, lol.

The Greazy Pickle should be newly remodeled by now.  Generally, each time I go o Portland I find my way to the Koffee Kup diner downtown.  Thats about it or me.   Ifs it is hot out Travis and I might go for a drive to cool off in the car.  I started just staying right on the grounds because the aftermath of each day was great too.  So many guys just sitting around and fun to strike up dialog about engines and bikes. Kind of like more bang for my Buck!

Thanks, I was just curious.  Trying to justify the really long trip with other things to possibly see and do if I went.

Looks like that would be a 14 hour drive.

The AMCA has one of their national meets at Wauseon, Ohio the same weekend.  It is about 120 miles from Portland.  I am thinking about going there on Saturday.
