Sportsman Senior Serial Numbers

I obtained the serial number for the Senior which is currently on ebay.  Based on the anniversary tank decal and the low number (only 4 digits.....4644), would you also think this is a '55 model?  I wonder how they kept mini bike and scooter serial numbers separated?

Mike, I don't think they started building theses until 1960 or so.  I bet the numbering system for these started  at zero.

Hmmm....I was going by an entry in the "Standard Catalog of American Motorcycles - 1898-1981" book, on page 433.  It a good picture of a Senior & the caption says "mid-1950's".  Credit for the info is given to the VMBC.  Maybe they had it wrong, based on info they had.
