Me myself I am not fond of the height of the plugs. There's no room to work the plugs under the tank. I'mlooking for a good replacements that are short topped plugs for clearance. Never liked sparks that close to gas and oh how hard is it to just to pull a plug out. But on brands I can go any way even thou I prefer autolights I do use others.   :P

Does anyone know if the length of the porcelain has something to do with the heat range of a spark plug .

Wayne sells a short, modified socket wrench to get to the plugs under the tank.  It's perfect for the room available!! Mike

I took an old box end wrench and ground a little here and there . Bent a little here and there . It works just fine . It does not look exactly OEM , but ... ;)

What does everyone make of this wrench?  Authentic?  I bought one once that was described as a Simplex wrench but turned out to be poorly made but resembled this one.  Got this one off of Ebay at a pretty low price and couldn't let it go. It does fit the sparkplug!

The socket is 5/8" tall.  handle is 3/4" X 5 1/2" long and an 1/8" thick.

I know a lot of us use the NGK B-4H plug with good success, but I recently encountered an issue.  I was test assembling an M motor, no gaskets in place.  I am using a .030 longer rod in this motor and found that the piston hit the spark plug.    I installed a cylinder gasket and had clearance.  This led me to measure the spark plug thread length.  This measured 13.3 mm to the tip.  I pulled out an Autolite 295, this measured 10.5 mm.  I then looked up the specs online and found that an NGK B-4 is really the replacement for the Autolite 295, not the NGK B-4H that we usually use.  Without the longer rod, this wouldn't matter.

Not CJ8, but J8C.  I din't have one to measure, so I am not sure.
