I use to use a lot of those kind of days , but I'm retired now and ... well , sometimes I think they still show up once in while even though I didn't ask for them . ;)

Regarding those comments about bolt on kick starters, to clarify:

The early bolt on had u-bolts to secure the shaft to the frame.  In the later bikes they stuck the shaft thru a drilled hole & used one single bolt thru the motor plate to secure it, then they went to no bolt and just welded it to the bottom of the plate (to make it real fun, some bikes had both a bolt and weld.....my '57 is an example of that).

 My 1949 was welded, but my 1953 and 1955 are both bolt on.
